NEXT MEETING:   There will be no monthly meeting in September.  Instead we shall be holding our 100th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at the Victory Hall on Saturday 28th September.  Tickets are priced at £15 for members, £20 for non-members.  Please contact us if you would like more information. Our next monthly meeting will be on Wednesday 30th October.  Mark Porter, Chair of the National Garden Scheme charity (NGS) for South East England, will give a talk entitled "Will there be enough cake"?

Titchfield Open Gardens: Visit the lovely gardens of Titchfield on Sunday 23rd June 2019, from 1pm to 5pm.  All gardens are within walking distance of St Peter's Church.  Tickets and map £5 from St Peter's Church from 12.45pm on the day. Accompanied children under 14 years are free.

Fareham Local Committee Open Garden: Visit a beautiful garden in aid of Cancer Research UK on Sunday 30th June, from 10am to 5pm.  51 Longmynd Drive, Fareham, PO14 1SH.  £2.50 entry free.  Refreshments, Plant and Book Stall.  Click here for more information on Fareham Open Gardens.

Plant Sale: Our annual Plant Sale will be held on Saturday 11th May 2019 at the Victory Hall, Warsash. Come along and buy early flower and vegetable seedlings, plus a variety of annuals and perennials - all at very reasonable prices.

No Dig Vegetable Gardening: The Hedge End Allotment Association have invited Charles Dowding on 23rd March at Hedge End to give a presentation on no-dig vegetable gardening.  The talk starts at 6.30pm at The Underhill Centre, St John's Church, Hedge End, SO34 4AF. The cost of attendance is £12 - doors open at 5.30pm with light refreshments. All welcome to attend. For those who do not know of him, Charles Dowding is the ' NoDig Guru' and has written books and articles on the subject.  Charles' website can be found at   Tickets are available by e-mailing 

Shore Leave Haslar will be opening their doors during the summer, when there will be an opportunity for you to go along and purchase their lovely veggies.  They will be open on the second Wednesday of the month, from May to September inclusive, for a couple of hours from 1100 to 1300.  Access will be through the green pedestrian gate on Haslar Road. Open Gardens in Meonstoke & Exton: Sunday 12th June 2016, 2pm-5.30pm.  Cream teas and homemade cakes at Manor House, Exton, SO32 3NU.  Two Gardens in Meonstoke High Street and two in Exton (look out for Pink Flowers). Open Garden: Visit Mike and Felicity's lovely garden on Sunday 24th April.  Open between 2.00pm and 6.00pm. Price £2.50 per adult, children under 12 free.  All proceeds to the British Red Cross.

Winners of Fareham in Bloom 2015:  Congratulations go to our members Mike and Felicity Cory who won Gold in the Small Plantsman's Back Garden and Silver Gilt for their Plantsman's Front Garden. They were presented with their awards at the Ferneham Hall on 17th September. Mike and Felicity regularly open their garden in aid of the British Red Cross Open Gardens Scheme.

Peter Maunder Garden Competition: We are pleased to announce that members Bobby and Graham Peckham won second place in this prestigious competition.  Well done to you both. Their lovely garden was open to the public under the National Garden Scheme  on 12th and 13th September.

This annual event is very popular with the local community and provides an excellent opportunity to buy early flower and vegetable seedlings, plus a variety of annuals and perennials.  There are also very tasty cakes for sale.  Entry is free.

Peter Maunder Garden Competition: Have you thought of entering your garden in a competition?  Well, the Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies (HFHS) hold an annual Peter Maunder Garden Competition which is open to all members of horticultural societies and garden clubs.  It is the way you use the ground, the suitability of planting, the maintenance and the love put into the garden that determines the judges' marking. The Veolia Trophy will be awarded to the winning Garden Owner, 1st Prize £30, 2nd Prize £20, 3rd Prize £10.  Closing date for entries is 31st May 2015.  Let us know if you would like to enter the competition by completing the 'Contact Us' form on this website.  One of our members won the prize in 2013 so let's see if we can do it again.

Allotment Competition 2015: There is also a chance to win a prize in The Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies' Allotment Competition 2015. The Competition, which will be assessed by Federation Judges, is open to all members of affiliated Societies and consists of two Sections - Plots of less than 10 rods (300sq yards/250sq metres) and Plots of 20 rods and over. [Competition date has now expired].

Challenge Cups are awarded annually to the Section Winners with Cash Prizes in Section 1: 1st - £20, 2nd - £15 and 3rd – £10 and Section 2: 1st - £30, 2nd - £20 and 3rd - £15.  Diplomas are awarded as follows: top 7% of the combined results – Diploma of Special Merit, next 15% - Diploma of Merit. Visit the Western Wards Allotment Association website to download an entry form.  The fee is only £1 and entry forms should be completed and returned to the address on the form by 18th May.  It is intended that judging will take place between 22nd June and 5th July.

Warsash Village Garden Show: On Saturday 5th September 2015 we will be hosting the Warsash Village Garden Show, including Baking and Photography. This will be held in the Victory Hall, Warsash Road, Warsash.  Doors open at 2.30pm, admission is only 50p (children free).  You can pick up your Show Schedules/Entry Forms from the Victory Hall or many of the local shops in the area from the end of June.
